All projects are identified by a unique event number. It comprises a prefix, a 3-digit number, and a suffix.

The prefix is a letter that indicates the USAP program funding a project.

The 3-digit number provides the uniqueness for each event number. No two projects have the same number.

|
The suffix represents the supporting station. If field work takes place at more than one location the event number carries more than
one suffix separated by a slash.
