To all of you celebrating Midwinter's Day, 2006, at McMurdo, Palmer and South Pole Stations and on the Nathaniel B. Palmer and the Laurence M. Gould I send greetings and heartfelt thanks for your commitment to the spirit and goals of the U. S. Antarctic Program.  At this turning point in your journey through this special year in your lives, and on behalf of everyone in the USAP, I send congratulations and best wishes for a successful season and a safe return home in the spring.
