Supporting Stations: Special Project
The Calibration and Validation of meteorological and climate models and satellite retrievals, Antarctic Coast to Dome C (CALVA) is a campaign focused on observing atmospheric properties at Dome C and the Eastern coast of Antarctica. These observations are part of an ongoing effort to characterize the Antarctic climate and to improve both monitoring and modeling capabilities in the region. The observational campaign will result in improved characterizing of the Antarctic climate at Dome C and the coast.
Field Season Overview
The PI will sail on the French research vessel, Astrolabe, from Hobart, Tasmania to the French antarctic station, Dumont d'Urville or to Cap Prud'homme. Field activities take place both in Adélie Land and at Dome C and will involve conducting maintenance on existing observing stations over the course of several weeks.
