2018-2019 USAP Field Season
NOAA Support for Korean Antarctic Program
Dr. Robert Paul Dziak
Supporting Stations: McMurdo Station
This project is a collaboration between National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and the Korean Polar Research Institute (KOPRI) to record ice generated underwater acoustic signals from an array of hydrophones deployed in the Terra Nova Bay region of the Ross Sea near the Nansen Ice Shelf and Drygalski Ice Tongue.
Field Season Overview
Operations will include a research cruise aboard KOPRI's R/V Araon for recovery of NOAA hydrophone arrays. One member of the science party will be transferred by helicopter from R/V Araon to the Korean station, Jang Bogo, and will then fly from Jang Bogo to McMurdo Station for a scheduled northbound flight at the end of January.
