Antarctic Artists and Writers participant brings art to COP26 National Science Foundation Posted November 02, 2021 During the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26), artist Xavier Cortada has launched his HELLO project, which aims to reframe risks associated with climate change and sea-level rise. The name tags feature different pieces from Cortada’s Antarctic Ice Paintings series, which he created on-site using sea ice and sediment samples provided to him by scientists working alongside him in Antarctica in 2007 as part of the Antarctic Artists and Writers program. Breaking away from the traditional name tag, the artist challenges participants to identify themselves with qualities such as their personal elevation, hopes, and fears. Learn more about HELLO on the project's website.
